A four-part series · by Derek Buse

The CabinProject

We took on a tired cabin in the woods and documented the lot of it: what was wrong, what we changed, and how it turned out. It is a vacation rental now, so you can go and stay in the result.

Part one

The cabin as we found it

A look at what we took on, and why this property was worth reinventing.

Part two

Decisions we were forced into

Some of the design calls were not ours to make. The building made them for us.

Part three

The flaws

The nitty gritty. There were a lot of odd choices baked into this cabin and we went after them one at a time.

Part four

The reveal

The last episode. Here is what it looks like now.

It is cabin season

Go and stay in it.

The cabin has been properly updated and furnished, and it sleeps a crew. Booking is through Airbnb.
