Buse Agency is four brokers working with Compass out of an office on 12th Street in Fairhaven: Derek Buse, Erika Buse, Anne Cantrell and Wilhelmina Moslehi. Three of the four grew up here, and between us we cover most of what people bring to a real estate office in this town, from luxury homes and vacant land to new construction, commercial property and people moving here from somewhere else.
Who does what
Derek is a broker and a co-founder of the Compass office in Bellingham. Before real estate he worked in design and marketing in Santa Barbara, and some of that work ended up in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times. Most of his time goes to luxury property, vacant land and relocation. Buying land means knowing land use, local regulations and the feasibility process before you know whether you can build what you have in mind, and he has spent years inside that process. He is also president of the Lake Samish Community Association.
Erika is a Whatcom County native who has lived in five other West Coast towns, so she knows what people moving here are comparing it to. She holds the Certified Negotiation Expert and Global Luxury Specialist designations, and every new client starts with a strategy session.
Anne is a managing broker with more than 30 years in real estate, and she is our new construction specialist. She has launched a number of new communities and holds the CCIM designation in commercial and investment real estate.
Wilhelmina was born and raised in Bellingham and spent ten years in New York before coming home, studying advertising, marketing and economics at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She works from local data and keeps a close eye on interiors and architecture.

We tell you what we think, including when it is not what you were hoping to hear. When a deal gets difficult we stay in it and work the problem. That is about all there is to it.
