Derek Buse
Derek Buse is a broker and a co-founder of Compass Bellingham. He was born and raised in Northwest Washington, and he likes sharing what he knows about Bellingham: the outdoor community, the local businesses and the historic character of the town.
Most of his work is in relocation, new construction and vacant land. Land takes the most specialised knowledge of the three. Derek knows land use and the local regulations well, and he helps both buyers and sellers through feasibility, which is the tricky part of any vacant land deal.
Clients trust him because he is upfront with them, and they ask for his input on every part of a transaction. He works to negotiate the best terms he can, and when a deal runs into a hard problem he is creative and strategic about getting through it.
Before real estate Derek lived in Santa Barbara, California, where he worked in design and marketing. His marketing projects received national recognition, and he has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times. REAL Trends has nominated him as one of the top agents in Washington State.
He is a founding member of the Assembly Breakfast Club, a networking group of Whatcom County real estate agents. He is also president of the Lake Samish Community Association and a member of the Bellingham Business Club.
